It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it


Separating the thoughts from the thinker is a good first step in being able to act with wisdom rather than emotion of recklessly.

Understanding that a thought is just a thought, or simply a perception is very powerful particularly in terms of us being content. If we romance or back-story a thought we give it energy and value. If we accept its a just a thought and not our identity, often a more rational analysis or even a ‘better’ thought will come along.

Acting emotionally or impulsively on a thought as if it is ‘me’ can often lead to some degree of regret or disatisfaction.
